Our maiden mentorship session on the University of Ghana campus was held on Wednesday, 22nd February 2018 at the Jubilee hall. Mrs Felicia Agboza, the Human Resource and Staff Development Manager, Accra Compost & Recycling Plant was our resource person. Topic for discussion was Career Development.
Mrs Agboza, took mentees through a never-ending cycle of self discovery, exploring options, decision making, taking actions, and evaluating the decisions. She stressed on the importance of networking and the need to be optimistic about ones chosen career path. She explained the several factors that influences one’s career decision process such as personal and environmental factors.
In her presentation she said, “today’s generation cannot focus on their career development due to factors such as failure to discover their interest/talents, failure to plan, peer and parental influence, their quest to follow current trend and lack of motivation”.
At the end of the session, executives were appointed to help in the administration and organisation of the club.
