Global health has come under threat due to the outbreak of the Corona
Virus (COVID-19). In line with this, the Government of Ghana has put in certain
measures towards effective containment of the outbreak for which Ghana has
already recorded 6 official cases. Among these measures is a directive for all
schools to be shut down until further notice.
Vivo Energy Ghana, the marketers and
distributors of Shell-branded products and services in collaboration with the
African Business Centre for Developing Education (ABCDE) an NGO providing the
necessary inputs
through mentorship, internship and scholarship, across schools in Africa and eCampus Ghana, an EdTech company
have rolled out an alternative e-learning platform accessible to all Senior High
School students. Females are encouraged to register for greater future career
opportunities in STEM.
The Executive Director of ABCDE, Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah regretted the
impact of the COVID-19 on continuous studies but was confident that the e-learning platform will offer an alternative learning opportunity to Ghanaian
students while helping to ensure that students put their time to good use.
Speaking on the partnership, the Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana,
Mr Ben Hassan Ouattara encouraged students to take advantage of this
opportunity to undertake further studies on the portal during this period.
“I want to urge all students, especially those at home, to fill the
knowledge gap during this time. The partnership gives Senior High School students
a week free trial after which the first 500 students will be sponsored by Vivo
Energy Ghana for one-year full access.”
Students who wish to start with the free trial period must use the
special promo code, VIVOABCDE.

About
ABCDE
The African Business Centre for Developing Education (ABCDE), first
registered in London, the UK in 2009 and subsequently registered in Ghana in
2012, has over the years been making strides to make a positive impact on the
educational and business sectors of Ghana. ABCDE strengthens the educational
sector by introducing to second and third cycle educational institutions some
of the professional knowledge existing in the business world which SHS and
tertiary students need to be employable or to create their jobs after graduation.
ABCDE has identified some 20 senior high schools some of which are Achimota
SHS, Accra Girls SHS, Ghanata SHS, St. Thomas Aquinas, Accra Wesley Girls,
Labone SHS and two universities that have recognized the needs of their
students for mentorships and internships and ABCDE has supplied these
institutions with in-school mentorships and company-based internship
opportunities for their students. ABCDE manages the implementation of scholarships and has the ABCDE
STEM scholarship Fund.
